As a parent you want the best for your child.
And as teachers, so do we!

We believe that the best education results when Christ is at the center of all we do, the Bible is our foundation and students learn through a whole child approach––nurturing their growth spiritually, academically, physically and socially.  We invite you to visit us and learn more about how this happens at our school.

Special Education Policy

Harrisburg Adventist School (HAS) offers limited support for students with learning, behavior, or language challenges. HAS does not have the necessary equipment or staff to meet all potential needs of students who exhibit serious academic, physical, social, or language learning acquisition needs. Therefore, students who have serious academic, physical, social, or language needs will not be accepted at HAS. Should these problems be indicated after the student is enrolled, the school administration will assist the parent(s) in accessing services through the local intermediate unit such as student testing, implementation of an IEP or ISP, or intervention by the intermediate unit. If the child’s discovered needs are unable to be met, HAS reserves the right to request or require the student to be transferred to a school or program where assistance is available.

The school works with the local public school system to provide resources for students who have special needs. Parents should communicate with the teacher/administration regarding IEPs, or other concerns regarding their students. Parents can request an assessment on behalf of their student/s with the Child Study Team at the school district where the student lives.
